Booking the Protection Package Max gives you extra peace of mind, but it doesn’t mean you’ll never have to pay anything in case of damage. Here’s how it works:
How Protection Package Max works:
- Protection Package Max reduces your financial responsibility for certain types of damage.
- For covered damages, you’ll pay a deductible of €150 per damage case. If the damage is fully covered without a deductible, this will be clearly listed in your policy.
- Any costs above the deductible are covered by roadsurfer, according to the terms of your Protection Package.
Why you might still get a damage invoice:
- If the damage falls under an exclusion (for example, if an accident wasn’t reported on time, documentation is missing, there was negligence, or the damage type is excluded), the Protection Package Max may not apply.
- Customer obligations, such as timely reporting and proper documentation, always apply.
What to expect from roadsurfer:
- If you receive a damage invoice, roadsurfer will explain which parts of the damage are covered, which are excluded, and how the deductible is applied.
- The final decision is always based on the terms of your Protection Package and the details documented in your case.

How your deductible is applied: a worked example
Say your deposit is €1,100, your Protection Package Max has a deductible of €150 per damage case, and the review confirms one covered damage with repair costs of €640:
- You pay the deductible: €150. roadsurfer covers the remaining €490.
- The €150 is offset against your blocked deposit, and the remaining €950 of your deposit is released.
- You never pay more than the deductible for a covered damage case, and never twice for the same damage.
Two situations where your invoice can be higher than the deductible: several separate damage cases (the deductible applies per damage case) and exclusions (the Protection Package does not apply and the full cost is charged). Your exact deposit and deductible are stated in your booking.
