An accident or damage occurred during my trip – what happens to my deposit?

Did you have an accident or other damage during your trip? We are very sorry to hear that and hope you are okay. We will do our best to support you in this situation.

Has the accident just happened?

If the accident has just happened and you have not yet contacted us, please follow these guidelines: Accident, breakdown or damage on the road?

Wondering what happens to your deposit?

After you have returned your roadsurfer, the damage team will assess the damage within 14 working days and review it. You will receive an invoice (including the processing fee) if the costs are not covered by your chosen insurance package. If you have another private insurance, you must pay the invoice yourself first and then claim the amount back from your insurance.

Your deposit will be held until the damage has been assessed. No later than 14 working days after your return, the deposit will be released if it was not needed to cover the costs. Please note that the release of your deposit may take different amounts of time depending on the type of card you used. Here you can see the different durations: How do I pay the deposit?

You can check the status of your deposit or the damage in your customer account: Customer account – Check deposit status
