In Croatia tolls are charged for driving on highways and for some bridges and tunnels.
How to pay?
You can pay directly at the toll gates in cash or by credit or debit card.
Alternatively, the electronic toll collection (ETC) system can be used on most highways for paying the toll fees. Therefor an on-board unit is needed which will be installed at the windshield. The toll is recognized automatically and charged to the account connected to the unit. With this you can use the ETC-lane at the toll gates which allows you to pass quick and easy. The device can be purchased through the highway company HAC in store.
NOTE: If you want to use your ETC with your roadsurfer van, you must remember to cancel the license plate after your return. Otherwise, you will be charged for the tolls of the subsequent renter!
NOTE: If the toll is not paid, the bill will be sent to roadsurfer and then charged to you including penalties and fees.
