Did you book before 12 November 2025 with us? Then the conditions valid on the day of your booking still apply to your reservation – even if your trip takes place in 2026 or later. In this article, we explain exactly which cancellation and rebooking conditions apply to you.
Good to know: What matters is the date you made your booking, not your travel date. For example, if you booked in October 2025 for a trip in 2026, the conditions described here still apply. You can find your booking date in your booking confirmation.

You can rebook, extend or cancel your booking yourself at any time in your customer account. You can also see directly which refund or voucher amount applies to you there: Customer account – change, extend or cancel booking.
Important note about the booking fee
- Booking on or after 22 October 2025: The booking fee is non-refundable and is not included in the calculation of a cancellation voucher. If you redeem a cancellation voucher for a new booking, the currently valid booking fee will be charged again.

Booking before 22 October 2025: If you cancel at least 60 days before vehicle pickup, the booking fee will also be refunded. Any possible cancellation voucher is calculated based on the total rental price, and no new booking fee is charged when redeeming it.
If you pick up your campervan in Europe
This section applies to all vehicle pickups in Europe, including the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Norway.
Cancellation
- 60 days or more before vehicle pickup: Your cancellation is free of charge. Payments already made will be refunded, excluding the booking fee. If you paid in whole or in part with a cancellation voucher or gift voucher, you will receive a voucher of the corresponding value instead.
- 59 days to 48 hours before vehicle pickup (standard rate without Flex): The full rental price including extras remains due. You will receive a cancellation voucher worth 50% of the rental price (excluding booking fee) for a future booking. There is no entitlement to the remaining 50%.
- 59 days to 48 hours before vehicle pickup (with Flex option): Cancellation is free of charge. You will receive a cancellation voucher for the entire rental price, excluding the cost of the Flex option and the booking fee. Alternatively, you can use the amount directly for a rebooking to another travel period.
- Less than 48 hours before vehicle pickup: The full rental price including extras remains due. A refund or cancellation voucher is no longer possible.
Rebooking or extending your trip
You can rebook to another travel period at any time before vehicle pickup. The prices valid at the time of rebooking always apply.
If the new travel dates are more expensive: You pay the price difference.
If the new travel dates are cheaper: The same rules apply to the difference as for a cancellation:
- 60 days or more before vehicle pickup: The difference will be paid out.
- 59 days to 48 hours before vehicle pickup (standard without Flex): You will receive a voucher for 50% of the difference.
- 59 days to 48 hours before vehicle pickup (with Flex): You will receive a voucher for the entire difference.
- Less than 48 hours before vehicle pickup: Rebooking is still possible, but without payout or voucher for the difference.
Your conditions are not reset by rebooking
You can rebook your trip as often as you like. However, the decisive factor is always the time of your first rebooking. The period between this first rebooking and the original pickup date permanently determines which cancellation and rebooking conditions apply to your booking.
Example: Your original trip starts in 90 days. You rebook the trip 30 days before the original start date. From this moment on, the conditions of the category “30 days before vehicle pickup” apply permanently, even if later travel dates are further in the future.
If you pick up your campervan in the USA
This section applies to all vehicle pickups in the USA. Your contractual partner is RS USA, Inc. The cancellation deadlines correspond to those in Europe. However, different rules apply for rebookings.
Cancellation
- 60 days or more before vehicle pickup: Your cancellation is free of charge. Payments already made will be refunded, excluding the booking fee. If you paid in whole or in part with a cancellation voucher or gift voucher, you will receive a voucher of the corresponding value instead.
- 59 days to 48 hours before vehicle pickup (standard rate without Flex): The full rental price including extras remains due. You will receive a cancellation voucher worth 50% of the rental price (excluding booking fee) for a future booking. Beyond this, there is no entitlement to a refund.
- 59 days to 48 hours before vehicle pickup (with Flex option): Your cancellation is free of charge. You will receive a cancellation voucher for 100% of the rental price, excluding the cost of the Flex option and the booking fee. Alternatively, you can use the value directly for a rebooking to another travel period. If the original booking was paid in whole or in part with a cancellation voucher or gift voucher, you will receive a voucher for this again.
- Less than 48 hours before vehicle pickup: The full rental price including extras remains due. A refund or cancellation voucher is no longer possible.
Rebooking or extending your trip
You can rebook to another travel period up to vehicle pickup. The prices valid at the time of rebooking always apply.
- If the new travel dates are more expensive: You pay the difference.
- If the new travel dates are cheaper: You will receive a cancellation voucher for the difference to the originally agreed rental price. This applies regardless of how long before vehicle pickup the rebooking takes place.
Unlike Europe, for vehicle pickups in the USA a price difference is never paid out but always credited as a voucher. Also, the voucher value does not decrease depending on the time of rebooking.
If you pick up your campervan in Canada
This section applies to all vehicle pickups in Canada. Your contractual partner is roadsurfer Canada Inc.
Cancellation
- 60 days or more before vehicle pickup: Your cancellation is free of charge. Payments already made will be refunded, excluding the booking fee. If you paid in whole or in part with a cancellation voucher or gift voucher, you will receive a voucher of the corresponding value instead.
- 59 days to 48 hours before vehicle pickup (standard rate without Flex): The full rental price including extras remains due. You will receive a cancellation voucher worth 50% of the rental price (excluding booking fee) for a future booking.
- 59 days to 48 hours before vehicle pickup (with Flex option): Your cancellation is free of charge. You will receive a cancellation voucher for the entire rental price, excluding the cost of the Flex option and the booking fee. Alternatively, you can use the amount for a rebooking to another travel period.
- Less than 48 hours before vehicle pickup: The full rental price including extras as well as any applicable taxes remain due. A refund or cancellation voucher is no longer possible.
Rebooking or extending your trip
- If the new travel dates are more expensive: You pay the difference.
- If the new travel dates are cheaper: The respective cancellation conditions apply to the difference according to the deadlines mentioned above.
Rules that apply everywhere
Extras and equipment
Extras such as bicycle racks or camping toilets cannot be cancelled separately from the booking. If you cancel your booking, the costs for booked equipment will generally not be refunded.
Shortening the booking before vehicle pickup
Shortening your trip counts as a partial cancellation and not as a rebooking. Therefore, the respective cancellation conditions apply to the corresponding difference amount.
You can shorten your booking in the customer account by changing the travel dates. Before saving, you will be shown directly how the change affects the price.
Tip: If you are only unsure about individual travel days, a complete rebooking to another travel period is often the cheaper solution.
Early return of the campervan
If you return your camper earlier during the trip than originally agreed, unused rental days cannot be refunded. There is no credit or partial refund, no cancellation voucher and no partial rebooking to another travel period.
This differs from shortening the booking before vehicle pickup, for which the cancellation conditions described above apply.
Your cancellation voucher
If you receive a cancellation voucher as part of your cancellation, the following conditions apply:
- The voucher is valid for one year from the date of issue.
- A cash payment is not possible.
- The voucher may not be sold, auctioned or transferred to other persons.
- When redeeming, the prices and rental conditions valid on the day of the new booking apply. There is no entitlement to the original rental price or the original conditions.
- If your original booking was made on or after 22 October 2025, the booking fee valid at the time of booking will be charged again when redeeming the voucher.
- If a booking paid for with a cancellation voucher is cancelled again, the new voucher takes over the expiry date of the original voucher. The validity does not start again from the beginning.
