Why do I have to pay for damage caused by a third party?

If your rental vehicle was damaged by someone else and you’ve already provided a police report and the third party’s insurance information, here’s what you need to know:

You remain the main contact

As the person who signed the rental agreement, you are still roadsurfer’s primary contact throughout the claims process.

How reimbursement works

roadsurfer will use the police report and insurance details you provided to try to recover the costs from the responsible party or their insurer.
If the third party’s insurance pays for the damage, any amount you’ve already paid will be refunded or settled accordingly.

If reimbursement is not successful

If the other insurer refuses to pay or only covers part of the damage, you are still responsible for any remaining costs under your rental agreement.

Transparency and support

roadsurfer will keep you informed about the status of the claim and any payments or refunds.

Tip: Always keep copies of your police report and any communication with the third party’s insurer. This helps ensure a smooth and transparent process.
