When you pick up your roadsurfer at the station, we ask that you provide the rental deposit. For this, you can use a VISA or Mastercard (credit or debit), in the USA also American Express, or in Germany, if applicable, an EC/Girocard.
The amount of the deposit depends on the local currency of the pick-up station and varies depending on when you booked:

Please make sure your credit or debit card is valid for this amount. If necessary, contact your bank to adjust your limit. We can only hand over the vehicle once the deposit has been reserved.
How do the cards work?
- We accept: Visa or Mastercard (American Express is only accepted in the US)
- Process: The amount is held for 30 days when you pick up. If during the damage check (24-48 hours after return) no damage is found, the deposit amount is automatically released.
- Note: Some banks don’t show the release as a refund in "+ XXX€", but just remove the held amount in your online banking.

Process: There are debit cards where the amount is only held, just like with a credit card. If possible, the amount is held for 30 days when you pick up.
With some debit cards this function isn’t possible, so the amount has to be charged directly from your account. Check with your bank. -
Release/Refund:
- If the amount is only held: If during the damage check (24-48 hours after return) no damage is found, the deposit amount is automatically released. Some banks don’t show the release as a refund in "+ XXX€", but just remove the held amount in your online banking.
- If the amount was charged: The refund can take up to 6-8 weeks. The sender is Adyen / roadsurfer.
- Process: The amount is charged directly from your account, since it’s not possible to hold an amount here.

More information about the deposit payment:
- Unfortunately, it is not possible to pay the deposit in cash, by advance transfer, or by Paypal or American Express (outside the USA).
- Please check if you know your PIN and if the limit of your card is sufficient, as the deposit must be provided in one payment. If necessary, increase the limit through your bank.
- Your co-driver can also pay the deposit – the card does not have to be in your name. You do not have to pay with the same card you used for your booking.
- Please note that the available limit may be reduced by the reserved deposit amount depending on the bank – this could affect your travel budget!
