Fresh water
For hygienic reasons, the fresh water tank is always handed over empty. The fresh water tank (100 L) is located on the passenger side and serves the washbasin, toilet and indoor/outdoor shower. To open it, you need the medium-sized key:
Filling up the fresh water tank works by canister with attachment or with a hose. Please make sure that the fresh water and waste water tanks are closed. They might still be open from the previous rental.
You can check the water tank level on the camper unit (the second button on the right shows the fresh water level).
To empty/open or close the fresh water tank, turn the black knob on top of the tank. To do this, lift the mattress at the head end and open the lid:
Caution: Fresh water is not drinking water
Waste water
Before returning the Couple Cottage Offroad, the waste water must be emptied.
You can check the level of the water tank on the camper unit (the third button on the right shows the grey water level).
The grey water tank in the Couple Cottage Offroad must be opened at the valve under the car on the back. The crank is in a pocket on the passenger door.
To open, insert the crank into the valve and turn it 90° anticlockwise.
To close, insert the crank into the valve and turn it 90° clockwise
Troubleshooting
If there is water running under the car despite everything being closed, it can be that there is still a valve open:
- Make sure the fresh water tank drain is closed
- Make sure the waste water tank drain is closed
-
Check the valves under the floor close to the bathroom:
-
Check, if the cold protection valve is closed. It is located under the seat in the passenger area. Lift the seat cushion:
The cold protection (or anti freeze) valve automatically drains the boiler when there is a risk of frost. This prevents the drain from freezing.
The system measures the temperature inside the van. As soon as it is around 3 degrees or lower the system is activated and lets all the water that was in the boiler and the fresh water tank out. To deactivate the system, the room temperature has to be a least 7 degrees, otherwise the blue button will jump out again.
To ensure that the water supply continues to function and the valve is switched on, the blue lever must be turned clockwise and then the blue button must be pressed in.
No water flows
If you turn on the tap but no water flows, this can have several reasons:
- First check the fill level on the on-board unit to see whether the fresh water tank is sufficiently full.
There should be at least 20 liters of water in the fresh water tank so that the pump is completely covered with water and filled so that it automatically unlocks after running dry!
- It could be that a plug of the water pump has come loose. Check whether the water pump cable is plugged in correctly. Before touching a cable, switch off the power to the on-board computer, switch off the engine and remove the key. Disconnect the vehicle from any external power supply.
Water pump does not stop running
If you hear the water pump humming when no tap is open, check the following:
- Are all the water taps properly closed? Sometimes they are still a little open and this causes the pump to run even if no water comes out.
- It may be that a micro-sensor on the tap has become wet and therefore does not recognise that the pump should stop working. Wait until it is dry or try drying the area with a hair dryer.
- Turn off the main battery switch for a while until the system resets itself.
If the water pump does not activate when you turn on the tap (ATTENTION only for vehicles without a separate water pump button), the micro-switch on the tap lever is probably defective.
To still put the water pump in the ready state, follow these steps:
- Test the other tap (e.g. kitchen or bathroom).
- If another tap works, open it just a little so that you can hear the water pump, but no water flows.
- Now open the tap with the defective micro switch. The water should now run.
Attention: Don't forget to close both taps completely afterwards!
