My roadsurfer has been broken into!

You come back to your roadsurfer and find it has been broken into? Of course, this is not an experience we want you to have on your road trip. Please stay calm and do the following:

  • Please call the local police immediately and report the burglary. If the police do not want to come, point out that it is a rental vehicle with fully comprehensive insurance and that this is important for the claims settlement; if the police still do not want to come, the damage must be reported to the nearest police station.
  • Contact roadsurfer support via the Contact section and send:
    • Police report incl. case number
    • Details of the crime scene
    • Details of the course of events (if you were able to observe anything)
    • Meaningful pictures of the signs of burglary (preferably from different perspectives)
  • Support will then work with you to find options for continuing your journey. Normally, a smashed window can be repaired or at least provisionally sealed at a car glass workshop.

What about the costs?

Such a case is extremely frustrating, but is of course not the responsibility of roadsurfer. Please understand that we cannot cover costs for the temporary closure, alternative accommodation, or any personal items stolen from the camper, as only damage to the vehicle itself is covered by the vehicle insurance.

Reimbursement for vehicle-related damages is determined by the Protection Package you selected. Any reimbursement and cost coverage will be reviewed individually by our claims department in accordance with your Protection package chosen.

If you have fulfilled your duty of care, the maximum amount you may be liable for is the insurance excess.
