If you have a flat tyre, secure the vehicle at the roadside with the warning triangle. However, there is none in North America! Make sure you and all passengers are safe before taking any further action.
Some of our roadsurfer vehicles have a spare tyre under or in the boot, others have a repair kit, and some have neither. If you feel confident, please check under the vehicle in the boot area or inside the boot itself. Information about the spare tyre and tools can be found in the manual in the glove compartment or in the passenger door.
Changing the Tyre Yourself
As set out in the general terms and conditions (11. Liability of the renter and insurance), you are not permitted to repair the vehicle yourself. If you nevertheless decide to change the tyre yourself, you do so at your own risk. Any damage caused will be your responsibility. In this case – if you feel safe and capable – you may change the tyre yourself, provided your roadsurfer has a spare tyre and the necessary tools and you do not put yourself in danger.

The tools can be found in the boot, at the passenger door entry, in the footwell on the passenger side, or in one of the compartments or floor compartments of the vehicle. You can check the on-board manual in the glove compartment or the door to see how to loosen the spare tyre and where to find the tools.
If you only have a spare tyre with which you cannot continue your journey, you must drive to a garage to have the tyre changed. Please inform the station about the change when you return.
If your spare tyre is a regular tyre with which you can continue your journey, you must retighten the wheel nuts after about 50 km and inform the station about the change when you return.
Note: Most tyres nowadays are fitted with a wheel lock. To loosen this special wheel nut, you need the appropriate tool, which you should find in the tool kit.
