♨️ Heating - Cozy Cottage (Knaus VAN TI PLUS)

The heating in the Cozy Cottage (Knaus VAN TI PLUS) works with gas. To use it:

  • Open the gas bottle. The bottles are located on the passenger side in the gas compartment.
  • Then additionally turn on the safety lever for the heating (in the middle). This is located in the top kitchen drawer:
  • Then go to the Truma display above the sliding door and follow these steps:
  1. To activate the screen, press the black button briefly. The symbol with a camper and a thermometer will blink.
  2. Click on the black button to confirm.
  3. The text "OFF" will appear. Turn the wheel clockwise to select the temperature.
  4. Once you find the desired temperature, press the button to select.
  5. The main menu will appear again.
  6. On the main menu, turn the button to the fan symbol
  7. Press the button again and select the mode: ECO, HIGH or BOOST
  8. Once you have selected the mode, the main menu will appear. Heating should be working now.
  9. Make sure not to cover the outlets!

Note: Do not block the ventilation outlets!
The window at the dinette next to the rear seat must be closed for the heating to work. Outside under the window is the outlet for the exhaust gas. This prevents it from entering the vehicle.

The heating consumes a lot of electricity. Please note therefore:

  • You can heat self-sufficiently for 1 night.
  • If you switch off heavy consumers (such as the refrigerator) overnight, the operating time is extended to 2 nights.
  • Danger of switch-off: Check in the evening whether the camping battery has at least 12.3 V (50%) voltage. If the heater does not have enough voltage and you start it several times in vain, the system will lock completely for safety reasons and can only be unlocked by a Truma workshop.

Troubleshooting

If the heating system does not work, check the Truma unit. If there is a problem with the heating system, you may get an error message. These are the most common ones:

Common errors on the Truma display:

E517H // E507H // E516H: The error code appears when the gas supply is interrupted. Turn off the system, turn on the gas, press the black button to confirm that the error has been acknowledged. You may need to reset the appliance and start the process again.

W412H: The error appears when a window is open. This activates the safety pin to prevent exhaust gases from the heater entering the vehicle interior. To allow the exhaust gases to flow again, close the window.

W418H // W411H // W303H // E654H // E566H: The error code appears if the voltage of the camping battery is insufficient.
Check the battery capacity on your on-board display. If the value is below 12.3 V (50%), the battery must be charged before starting the heater.
Repeated unsuccessful restarts of the Truma unit can cause the heater to block.

Reset

If the errors appear, the problem must be rectified (if there is no gas, open the gas bottle) and the error cleared.

You found the cause of the error and fixed it? Great! Some errors disappear by themselves.
Others need to be confirmed by navigating to the black button to the exclamation mark (by turning the black button):

Now press the black button to confirm the error. The symbol should now disappear and the heater can be put back into operation using the familiar steps.

Resetting the Truma unit after an error/warning message. Only ONCE!!!

In some cases, it helps to manually reset the Truma. Try this only once – if you repeatedly reset it without eliminating the cause, the entire system can be permanently disabled.
