🔌 Sockets & 💡 Lights / Electricity - Cozy Cottage (Knaus VAN TI PLUS)

Damit alle 12-V-Elektrogeräte ohne externe Stromversorgung funktionieren, sollte die Spannung der Campingbatterie nie unter 12 V (50 %) fallen.

The light in the Cozy Cottage (Knaus VAN TI PLUS) only works if the camping battery is charged or if an external power supply is connected.
To use power and light, the camper unit above the door must be switched on:

If your camper unit looks like this, no extra switch needs to be operated:

The light switches for the interior are located next to the door, above the sink, and in the bed area:

You can turn on the exterior light using the small toggle switch to the left of the control unit. If your camper unit looks like this, you must first set the exterior light to standby:

And then use the toggle switch to turn it on: I = light on, II = motion sensor active:

There are numerous sockets and USB ports throughout the vehicle:

  • You can find the 230V sockets to the left of the cupboard above the dining area, on the underside of the overhead cupboard, at the head of the bed, and in the boot.
  • You can find the USB ports and 12V sockets in various places in the living area, e.g., on the underside of the overhead cupboard. Those in the cab should only be used while driving, as the starter battery will otherwise discharge.

Please note the following:

  • When stationary, do not charge any device in the driver's cab via USB. The starter battery will discharge and the engine may not start!
  • 230V sockets: only work with an external power connection
  • USB ports and 12V sockets: work without an external power connection, with a charged camping battery (always keep it above 50% or 12V).
  • With a full battery, you can be self-sufficient for 1-2 days without a power connection, depending on usage. Then you need to drive for a while to recharge the battery or connect your camper to an external power source.
    • 🚗 Slow driving & short distances → hardly any battery charge
    • 🛣️ Long drives on motorways → better charge, but takes several hours
    • 🔋 The starter battery is charged first, then the camping battery.
    • ⚠️ Driving alone is often not enough to fully charge the camping battery.
    • 🔌 Recommendation: charge externally every 48 hours to avoid energy shortages (especially at night 💤).
  • Don't forget to unplug the power cable before driving off! For some models, you need to press the blue lever next to the plug downwards.

Troubleshooting

If the power or light does not work, you can test various things:

  • Check the charge level of the camping battery on the camper unit.
  • For an external power source: Check if the cable or socket at the campsite is defective. Your friendly camping neighbour will surely help you out with a working cable and socket. 🥰
  • Please check on the driver's side in the boot:
