Do the campers have winter tyres and snow chains?

In winter, all our vehicles are equipped with all-weather tyres with the snowflake symbol, which are suitable for most conditions.

During the summer months, we have a smaller number of vehicles on summer tyres in Europe. Still need help? Just ask Lea, our chat-based AI assistant. Lea helps you right away and can open a ticket for our customer service if needed.

Snow chains

Snow chains are recommended when roads are covered with snow or ice, especially in steep or winding areas such as mountain passes. In some countries or regions (e.g. Mountain roads), they may even be mandatory when indicated by designated signs.

However, you should avoid using snow chains when the roads are cleared and dry, as they can damage the tyres and the road itself, and have a negative impact on vehicle control.

We rent out snow chains for the Liberty Lodge, Couple Condo, Road House, Couple Cottage and Camper Castle models at selected locations:

  • US: Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Denver, Seattle, Salt Lake City
  • Canada: Vancouver
  • Germany: Munich, Aachen
  • Sweden: Stockholm, Malmö, Gothenburg
  • Norway: Oslo, Bergen
  • Austria: Innsbruck, Salzburg
  • Spain: Barcelona, Bilbao
  • France: Geneva-Pays de Gex, Lyon, Toulouse, Marseille
  • Italy: Milan, Turin, Venice

If snow chains are available, you can book them as an extra in your initial booking. You can also add them later via your customer account.

Please note that there is an increased risk of damage to the wheels when using snow chains. We therefore recommend the Protection Package Max, which offers protection against tyre damage. With Plus or Basic, you would have to pay for such damage up to the excess amount. This applies regardless of whether the snow chains are your own or rented.

Would you like to rent snow chains elsewhere?

If you would like to purchase or rent snow chains elsewhere, please note that the tyre sizes may vary within the categories. Snow chains can be rented from many car dealers and from the ADAC or another automobile club.
