Top open or close the pop-up roof on the Liberty Lodge you need to make sure that at least one window or door is open. Then follow these steps:
- Release both security clips:
- Fold up the handle and twist it anticlockwise to release it:
- Then lift the roof on both sides simultaneously. You might need two people at first. With a little practice it is doable alone though 😊. Push the roof up on the two handles on each side to avoid damages, do not push up on the window! At a certain point the roof will extend fully on its own, but it does need a good push. Make sure you keep the long black straps attached otherwise it will be hard to shut.
- Up on the mattress you will find the ladder in two pieces. Attach them and lock securely:
- Slide the table to the side and hook the ladder on the designated place.
Stabilizing struts for pop-up roof
Some of the Liberty Lodges are equipped with extra stabilizing struts. Here is how to use them:
- After the pop-top is extended, secure it in place with the 2 support bars. Start by unlatching the hook and loop closure to release the bars. The bars are located at the forward facing side of the pop-top entrance:
- Release both support bars:
- Pull the travel pins out of the support bars so that they can be extended:
- Extend the bar until it reaches the ceiling of the pop-top, the bar is secured inside the seat belt locking hole:
- With the support bar extended, secure it in the extended position with the travel pin. Do this on both sides:
- If the support bar does not line up snug with the seatbelt locking hole, it can be adjusted by turning the base of the support bar to the desired height:
The rooftop always has to be shut while moving.
To shut the rooftop:
- Make sure that there are no items up on the bed (like pillows or blankets).
- Check that the two lights are folded in and the tent-windows are closed.
- Then slowly pull on the black straps to get the roof to come down. Make sure you tuck the tent fabric in before fully shutting it, because the tent fabric gets cut by the metal frame if left outside.
- Always make a test, if the roof is shut: If you can still lift one of the sides it is not completely shut. In that case pull on the handle hard for it to lock in place.
- Once it is securely shut, reattach the buckles as an extra security measure to hold the roof down in any case. You can also lock the rooftop again.
