Depending on the model, there may be differences in how it is operated. It is therefore best to check which vehicle you are in:
Fresh water
The fresh water tank (100 litres) is located on the passenger side and supplies the washbasin, toilet and shower. To open the lid for filling, you will need the medium-sized key:
The fresh water tank can be filled using a canister with a nozzle or a hose. Please ensure that the fresh water and waste water tanks are closed. They may still be open from the previous rental.
You can check the level of the water tank on the camper unit (the left column shows the fresh water level, the one next to it shows the waste water level):
To empty or close the fresh water tank, there is a lever behind the flap on the right-hand side of the boot. Set the green lever to the appropriate position: Open = lever points along the pipe, Close = lever points across the pipe.
Please note: Fresh water is not drinking water!
Waste water
The waste water must be emptied before returning the Couple Cottage.
You can check the water tank level on the camper unit (see image above).
The waste water tank (75L) of the Couple Cottage (Weinsberg CaraTour/CaraBus 600) is located under the camper on the driver's side of the vehicle. To empty it, move the grey lever vertically.

Troubleshooting
Water is leaking from under the vehicle
If water is leaking under the vehicle even though everything is closed, it may be that a valve is still open:
- Ensure that the drain on the fresh water tank is closed.
- Make sure that the drain of the waste water tank is closed .
- Check whether the cold protection valve is closed. It is located behind the flap on the side of the rear seat bench and is marked with a snowflake:
The cold protection (or anti freeze) valve automatically drains the boiler when there is a risk of frost. This prevents the drain from freezing.Â
The system measures the temperature inside the van. As soon as it is around 3 degrees or lower the system is activated and lets all the water that was in the boiler and the fresh water tank out. To deactivate the system, the room temperature has to be a least 7 degrees, otherwise the blue button will jump out again.
To ensure that the water supply continues to function and the valve is switched on, the blue lever must be turned clockwise and then the blue button must be pressed in.
Now check whether the boiler valves have been accidentally opened :
- These can be found in the kitchen in the base cabinet. Open the cabinet and remove the bottom of the cabinet to find the valves. Turn the valves clockwise to close them:
- Also check another valve at the bottom of the door on the right side of the kitchen. You will also find it under a wooden board:
Check the low point drain. It should be closed:
No water is flowing
If you turn on the tap but no water flows, there may be several reasons for this:
- Make sure that the Camper Unit (control unit near the sliding door) is switched on.

Check the fresh water level on the Camper Unit.
There should be at least 20 litres of water in the fresh water tank so that the pump is completely covered and filled with water, allowing it to unlock automatically after running dry!

The water pump fuse may be damaged.

Before any fuse is pulled, following safety measures is required:
- Turn off the engine and remove the key from the contact.
- Unplug the car from any external power supply.
- Pull carefully on the fuse by pulling from the sides.
- A damaged fuse can be burnt or have the connector broken (see picture). If so, please replace it. You can find them at petrol stations and hardware stores.Â
Water pump does not stop running
If you hear the water pump humming even though no taps are open, check the following:
- Are all taps properly closed? Sometimes they are still slightly open, which causes the pump to run even though no water is coming out.
- It may be that a micro sensor on the tap has become wet and therefore does not recognise that the pump should stop working. Switch off the pump on the Camper Unit when you are not using it and wait until it is dry, or try to dry the area with a hairdryer.
- Switch off the Camper Unit for a while until the system resets itself.
