💧 Fresh water and waste water/ grey water - Camper Castle (Bürstner Limited T)

Fresh water

The fresh water tank (100 L) is located on the passenger side and supplies the washbasin, toilet and shower. To fill the water tank, open it from the outside with the middle key:

The fresh water tank can be filled using a canister with an attachment or a hose. Make sure that the fresh water and waste water tanks are closed. They may still be open from the last rental.

You can check the fill level of the water tanks on the motorhome. Switch on the on-board unit, press the button at the top right to see the level of the fresh water on the scale on the right. At the bottom right you can see the level of the waste water tank:

To empty=open or close the fresh water tank, you have to lift a cover under the mattress on the passenger side. When you remove the wooden cover, you will see the water tank. Locate the black knob and turn it anticlockwise to open and clockwise to close:

Caution! Fresh water is not drinking water!

Waste water

Before you return the Camper Castle, the waste water must be emptied.

The waste water tank (90L) is located under the camper on the driver's side of the vehicle - below the gas compartment. To empty it, turn the long metal rod using the grey spanner found in the driver's door. Use the spanner for a quarter turn and the water will start to run out. Don't forget to close the tank again.

Troubleshooting

Water leaks from under the car

If water leaks from under the car even though everything is closed, it may be that a valve is still open:

  • Make sure the fresh water tank is closed.
  • Make sure the waste water tank is closed.
  • Check the cold protection valve to make sure it is not activated by mistake. The cold protection valve is under the rear seat. Remove the cushions and the cover:

The cold protection (or anti freeze) valve automatically drains the boiler when there is a risk of frost. This prevents the drain from freezing.

The system measures the temperature inside the van. As soon as it is around 3 degrees or lower the system is activated and lets all the water that was in the boiler and the fresh water tank out. To deactivate the system, the room temperature has to be a least 7 degrees, otherwise the blue button will jump out again.

To ensure that the water supply continues to function and the valve is switched on, the blue lever must be turned clockwise and then the blue button must be pressed in.

  • Also check at this point if the boiler valve is open by mistake. It must be turned down:

No water flows

If you turn on the tap but no water flows, this can have several reasons:

  • First check the level on the on-board unit to see if the fresh water tank is full enough.

There should be at least 20 liters of water in the fresh water tank so that the pump is completely covered with water and filled so that it automatically unlocks after running dry!

  • Make sure that the on-board unit and the water pump (tap symbol on the right of the on-board computer) are switched on.
  • The fuse of the water pump may be damaged. The fuse box is located under the driver's seat, under a cover on the underside of the seat. The fuse for the water pump (5A) is located at position 16:

Before any fuse is pulled, following safety measures is required:

  1. Turn off the engine and remove the key from the contact.
  2. Unplug the car from any external power supply.
  3. Pull carefully on the fuse by pulling from the sides.
  4. A damaged fuse can be burnt or have the connector broken (see picture). If so, please replace it. You can find them at petrol stations and hardware stores.

Water pump does not stop running

If you hear the water pump humming when no tap is open, check the following:

  • Are all the water taps closed properly? Sometimes they are still a little open and this causes the pump to run even if no water comes out.
  • Switch off the water pump on the on-board computer (water tap symbol).

Only one of two water taps is working?

If the water pump does not activate when you turn on the tap, the micro-switch on the tap lever is probably defective.

To still put the water pump in the ready state, follow these steps:

  1. Test the other tap (e.g. kitchen or bathroom).
  2. If another tap works, open it just a little so that you can hear the water pump, but no water flows.
  3. Now open the tap with the defective micro switch. The water should now run.

Attention: Don't forget to close both taps completely afterwards!
