To ensure that all 12V electronic devices work without external power, the camping battery voltage should never fall below 12V (50%).
The light in the Van Villa (VW T6.1 Knaus Tourer Van) only works when the camping battery is charged or when an external power supply is connected.
You can switch on the light via the on-board computer above the entrance door:
The light switches for the interior and the wet room are located distributed in different places inside the car:
- Living area: next to the door (on the left)
- Kitchen and sleeping area: above the stove and on the back wall of the bed
- Bathroom: on the right, below the mirror
- The spots in the roof can be switched on/off by touching them
- In the sleeping area are reading lights that can be dimmed by touching the back of their head (2)
There are numerous power sockets and USB ports throughout the vehicle:
- There are 230 V sockets underneath the cupboards in the kitchen:
- Another 230V and USB port in the dinette:
- In the sleeping area are reading lights that have integrated USB ports
Please note the following:
- Do not charge any device in the driver's cab via USB when stationary. The starter battery will discharge and the engine might not start anymore!
- The 230V sockets only work with an external power connection.
- The USB ports and 12V sockets also work without an external power connection. But the camping battery must be charged.
Troubleshooting
If the electricity or the light does not work, you can test various things:
- Check the charge level of the camping battery on the board unit.
- Check whether the light is switched on there.
- If there is no power at all, check the battery main switch of the camping battery. It is to be found in the outside compartment, where the water tanks and external power connection are:
It has to be in the vertical position for the 12V power in the Van Villa to be switched on (A):
If the red part is taken off, there cannot be any power! Never remove the red key! -
If you are connected to external power (230V) and experience problems, please check, if the FI Switch or another of the 230V fuses jumped out.
The FI Switch in the Van Villa is located underneath the rear bench. Remove the cushion and fold up the wooden bench. You will see it inside the white plastic box. It needs to be flipped towards you to be working. The little windows need to show red.
If these are all fine, check if the cable or the socket on the other end (plugged in at the campsite) are faulty! Maybe a nice fellow camper lets you check with his cable and functioning socket?
