To change the gas bottles (2 x 11 kg), several steps must be followed to ensure safe handling:
- Set the shut-off valves behind the flap under the sink horizontally to close them.
- Go to the trunk and open the gas compartment on the right-hand side:
-
First check that neither of the two bottles contains any more gas:
-
If the two dots (1) are no longer green but red, there is no gas in the system either. It may show red because the gas bottle is not open (2). If the bottle is open but no gas is flowing, it may be empty.
If one gas bottle is empty, the black knob with the grey marking (1) can be turned 180 degrees to take gas from the other gas bottle. It should turn green again as soon as gas is drawn from the other full bottle. -
The two dots also turn red when the hose rupture protection snap button (3) has been activated. Press the black button on the pipe right next to the bottle. You will hear a metallic click as soon as the button is properly engaged.
-
The crash sensor (4) may also have been triggered. In this case it sticks out. Then press the small yellow button for approx. 10 seconds until it stays in place.
-
- If one or both bottles are empty, close them anyway at the brass-coloured valve (2).
- Unscrew the connector from the gas bottle by hand (attention: left-hand thread).
- Loosen the straps around the gas bottle.
- Take the bottle out of the compartment and replace it with a full one.
- Securely fasten the bottle again with the straps.
- Screw the connector onto the gas bottle by hand (note: left-hand thread).
- Press the black hose rupture protection snap button (3) directly next to the bottle. You will hear a metallic click as soon as the button is properly engaged.
- Open the bottle at the brass-coloured valve (2) and check that the gas distribution (1) is set correctly and that the crash sensor (4) is pressed in.
In this video you can see how to put the new gas cylinder into operation:
Attention
-
Do not use any tools to screw the connector onto the gas bottle, otherwise it may not be possible to unscrew it!
-
Be sure to close the shut-off cocks and the gas bottles while driving!
-
Please also note that for safety reasons the gas compartment must not be used as a storage space.
Please note that bottles purchased outside Germany may require an adapter. Here you will find all possible adapters and information about gas suppliers abroad.
