The type of handbrake varies depending on the vehicle you have:
The handbrake on the Couple Cottage is designed so that you can turn the driver's seat without engaging it. This is the reason why it sinks back to the ground when activated. This can give the impression that it is not tightened or not working.
So if you try to deactivate it, it will seem a little unusual. To release the handbrake, press the button and pull the lever upwards until it engages and then move the lever downwards. This can require quite a lot of force - perhaps the passenger standing behind the driver's seat can help.
If you have parked downhill, don't forget to put one foot on the brake to prevent the car from rolling.
The handbrake on the Fiat Ducato is located on the left side of the steering wheel.
