Some of our Liberty Lodges have an electrical awning to provide you with refreshing shade.
Please be aware that the awning should never be used in rain or wind, as the awning can sustain extensive damage if it gets picked up by a wind gust. Always retract the awning when you leave the vehicle or retreat for the night. You are fully liable for any damage the awning sustains and a damaged awning is not covered by the liability insurance.
Here is how to safely set up your awning:
- You can extend and retract it by pressing the awning buttons on the main panel. Choose "AI" for "Awning" in the little LED-screen on the left bottom and then use the buttons EXT = Extend and RET=Retract to move the awning out and in:
- The awning cannot hold its own weight so make sure when you extend it, to stop the extension progress after about 50 cm by pressing the button again. Before extending it further, support it by putting the two legs on the ground. The legs can be taken out by releasing them on the silver levers on both sides:
- Adjust the hight of the legs by flipping the grey plastic lever up. Secure by pressing it towards the leg, pointing upwards:
- You can also secure the legs at the side of the vehicle, if you prefer that. Slide up this black plastic square, insert the foot and slide down to secure it there:
- If you want to return the awning into its shell, just reverse this process. Let the awning come in till it is only about 50 cm out and then fold the legs back in. Make sure the legs click and are secure in place. If the legs get stuck or damaged, it usually causes damage and deformation on the awning as well. Once the legs are secured, retract the rest of the awning fully.

Troubleshooting
There is a crank in the van only to be used for an emergency if your electrical awning should ever fail. It should be located above the driver’s side cabin. In order to use it in an emergeny, you need to open the crank cover visible on the awning and then press the crank in quite hard and turn it manually.
