The Couple Cottage is equipped with a built-in fridge and freezer (70 litres). This is located in the kitchen area, under the sink.
The camper unit must of course be switched on to operate the fridge.
- Press and hold the silver button above the refrigerator door:
- Press the silver button twice and turn it to select the cooling level. We recommend level 3 (7-8°C). Press the silver button once more to confirm the cooling level.
- The door can be opened from both sides. Make sure you always pull from the centre of the handle. If one of the sides does not open properly, check that the opposite side is properly closed and correctly locked into the hinges.
The refrigerator is powered by the camping battery. Therefore, make sure that there is enough power available so that the refrigerator can cool properly.

Please be aware that it may take a few hours until the fridge is fully cooled down! The warmer the environment is and the more food you put in, the longer it may take.
You can speed up the cooling process by:
- putting food in, that already comes from a fridge
- adding cool-packs/ice-packs
Troubleshooting
If the fridge in your Couple Cottage is not working as it should, you can try the following:
The refrigerator is not cooling sufficiently
- Check the charge level of the camping battery. If it is too low, connect the vehicle to an external power source.
- Make sure that the refrigerator is not completely full, otherwise it will not be able to cool properly.
- Make sure that the "night mode" is switched off.
- If the refrigerator is overheated, switch it off for an hour and then on again.
The freezer compartment does not freeze
- The interior of the vehicle may be too warm. Lower the temperature in the vehicle and select a higher cooling level in your refrigerator.
Refrigerator does not cool at all
- Firstly, make sure that the camper unit is switched on - otherwise you will have no power in the living area.
- If the refrigerator still won't switch on, a fuse may be defective. Before you check the fuses, you should rule out other problems such as a weak battery, a switched-off main switch or a problem with the RCD.
Before any fuse is pulled, following safety measures is required:
- Turn off the engine and remove the key from the contact.
- Unplug the car from any external power supply.
- Pull carefully on the fuse by pulling from the sides.
- A damaged fuse can be burnt or have the connector broken (see picture). If so, please replace it. You can find them at petrol stations and hardware stores.
- The fuse you are looking for (20A) is located under the driver's seat behind the plastic cover. It is the yellow fuse labelled "Refrigerator":
- Check the main fuses of the camping battery. They are located under the passenger seat. All fuses (2, 20 and 50A) must be in working order:
If the fuse is damaged or blown, replace it with a new fuse. You can find them in DIY stores, large supermarkets and petrol stations.
