The stationary heating on your Beach Hostel also works when the engine is not running. The heating system operates using the camping battery and diesel. Make sure you have at least 1/3 of the tank and of the battery full in order to use the heating through the night.
To use the parking heater on your car:
- Turn on the camper unit
- Select "Auxiliary heater"
- The next screen will ask you to choose:
- operating mode: ventilation for fresh air or air aux. heater for warm air. Once you select either of these options, you can choose the level as well
- settings: choose a departure time or a timer for the heating to automatically stop
- heat continuously: this setting will maintain the temperature inside the car all night long
- heat immediately: If you press heat immediately, the heating will run for a maximum of 120 min and then shut off automatically. Do NOT press heat continuously and heat immediately at the same time! This could stop the heating from working!
- Our recommendation is to press "heat continuously" and confirm using the black button
- Select the heating level, we recommend number 4 (approx. 18°C)
- A symbol will light up on the screen to indicate it is activated and warm air should be blowing from the vents on the floor level of the car
Here is a video on how to turn on the heating:
Troubleshooting
- Make sure you have enough battery (more than 12.3V) and diesel in your tank
- If the camping battery screen is not working, keep the black button pressed for about 10 seconds to restart
- If there is only cold air coming out, make sure you have selected "heating" and not "ventilation"
- Drive a couple of meters to have a complete system reset. Then, try to turn on the heating again following the steps mentioned above.
- Should the heating still not work, or only blow cold air and stopping after a while check the fuses
Before any fuse is pulled, following safety measures is required:
- Turn off the engine and remove the key from the contact.
- Unplug the car from any external power supply.
- Pull carefully on the fuse by pulling from the sides.
- A damaged fuse can be burnt or have the connector broken (see picture). If so, please replace it. You can find them at petrol stations and hardware stores.
The fuse box on the Beach Hostel is located under the driver' seat. To access it, move the seat all the way back. There, you will find several fuses in different colours. You are looking for two fuses, 5A and one 20A. There are several ones with that voltage, so please only remove the ones marked in this picture:
Pull them out carefully and check if they are burnt or have some damage. If not, please place them back in the same direction and position as they were before. We recommend to take a picture before you take them out.
