What do I need to know about tolls and LEZ in Belgium?

Toll

  • For cars and camper vans, highways in Belgium are generally free of charge.
  • The only exception is the Liefkenshoek Tunnel near Antwerp, which is subject to tolls for all vehicles. Payment options: credit card, cash, or onboard unit.

Low Emission Zones (LEZ) in Belgium

There are three major Low Emission Zones (LEZ) in Belgium: Brussels, Antwerp, and Ghent. These zones are intended to improve air quality by restricting access for particularly high-emission vehicles.
  • Control: Automatic via camera surveillance.
  • Registration: Required for all vehicles, as our fleet is not registered in Belgium or the Netherlands.
Good to know:
All roadsurfer vehicles have low emissions (Euro 6) and are allowed to enter the LEZ – however, registration is still required.

How to register your vehicle for the LEZ

Who needs to register?

  • All vehicles not registered in Belgium or the Netherlands (i.e., all roadsurfer customers).

What do you need for this?

  • The vehicle registration certificate (ZB1).
  • Required information:
    • Country of registration
    • License plate
    • Date of first registration
    • Date of last registration (for us, identical to first registration)
    • Fuel type
    • Euro standard

When should you request the documents?

You can request all documents for registration 5–7 days before your trip via the Contact section. After your request, we will send you the registration certificate (ZB1).
