Does roadsurfer offer Telepass?

What is Telepass?

Telepass is an electronic toll system mainly used in Italy (motorways, car parks and ferry from Villa San Giovanni to Messina), but also available in other European countries such as France, Spain, Portugal, Croatia and partly Austria (dedicated version for or motorhomes over 3 m). It allows automatic payment of toll fees without stopping at toll booths.

⚠️ Important notes for Roadsurfer customers

  • Roadsurfer does not provide Telepass devices, as they are personalised and linked directly to your payment method.
  • If you want to purchase and use Telepass, make sure to deregister your licence plate after the rental period, otherwise you will be charged for the next renter’s toll costs.

🔍 How does Telepass work technically?

  • You receive an On-Board Unit (OBU), which is attached to the windscreen.
  • This device communicates via RFID/radio with toll stations.
  • When you drive through a Telepass lane (marked yellow with “T”), the barrier opens automatically.
  • The toll fee is debited directly from your linked bank account or credit card.
  • Driving speed through the lane: approx. 30 km/h, no need to stop.
