🍴 Propane Gas / Cooking / Stove - Camper Castle (Knaus Sky Wave)

Here you will learn how to cook in the Camper Castle:

  1. Open the gas bottle (11kg) in the right exterior compartment next to the garage. Turn the brass-coloured regulator on the gas bottle to the + position:

  2. Depending on the type of bottle connection, you may need to press the black vent button to release the air from the hose and allow the gas to flow.
  3. Then additionally turn on the safety lever for the kitchen (pot symbol=vertical). This is located under the sink:
  4. To ignite the gas stove, turn the gas knob to the left and press it down at the same time. Gas should now flow and you should hear the clicking of the igniter:

Lighting the gas stove can sometimes take several attempts and/or seconds.
This is because when the gas pipe is empty, it must first fill up completely before propane gas can escape from the stove.
It is quite normal to smell a slight odor of propane gas before the stove ignites.

Warning

After cooking and especially during travel, be sure to close the shut-off valves and the gas bottle!

Please also note that the gas compartment must not be used as storage space for safety reasons.

Troubleshooting

No gas?

You should hear a faint hissing sound from the gas and also be able to smell the gas. If this is not the case, check the gas flow thoroughly from start to finish:

  1. Is the gas bottle full? Lift or weigh it: a completely full bottle weighs about 23 kg, an empty bottle about 12 kg.
  2. Is the gas bottle open? Turn it at least 2 turns towards the "+".
  3. Has the hose rupture protection been vented? Some models have a black button directly on the bottle valve. Press it firmly – you will hear a metallic click and this will release the air from the line.
  4. Is the grey safety lever in the kitchen open? It should be pointing towards the gas line to be open. There is usually a sticker showing which position is open.
Hob not igniting?
You should clearly hear the electric click from the igniter. If not, check that you have switched on the 12V circuit and that the battery is sufficiently charged.
If you still do not hear the click despite working power, the electric igniter may be faulty. In this case, you can carefully ignite the gas at the hob ring with a lighter.
Hob does not stay lit?
Press the gas knob in while turning it – you should now hear the gas flowing. Ignite now. Keep the gas knob pressed for a few seconds after lighting the gas. This will give you a stable flame.

Check that the crash sensor is not activated. You will find a black box next to the gas bottle with a yellow pin in it. If the pin is out, it means that the sensor is activated. Press it back in and hold it pressed for a couple of seconds until it stays in.
