What do I need to know about tolls in Slovenia?

Where is it necessary?

In Slovenia, a vignette is needed for driving on highways and motorways. Tolls are also charged for the Karavanke Tunnel, which connects Slovenia and Austria.

How do you pay?

Tolls for the roads are paid with the vignette, which since 2023 can only be purchased online and is registered on the vehicle's licence plate. You can purchase the digital vignette called "e-vinjeta" at the earliest 30 days before the start of validity, but also at short notice. If you pay immediately, the vignette is valid immediately, but if you buy by bank transfer, it is only valid 4 working days after the offer has been submitted. The vignette can be purchased here.

Price per vehicle up to 3.5t and >1.3m height:

  • 7 days: 32.00 euros
  • 1 month: 64.10 euros
  • 1 year: 235,00 Euro

The toll for the Karavanke Tunnel for vehicles not exceeding 3.5 tonnes can be paid directly at the toll booth and amounts to 8.20 euros per vehicle.

NOTE: If the toll is not paid, the bill will be sent to roadsurfer and then charged to you including penalties and fees.

Can I find out the registration number of my camper in advance?
