The Couple Condo has a water system that provides running water to the shower and two sinks. The used water then runs into the waste water (also called gray water) tank.
Water levels
In the Couple Condo you can check the level of the fresh, gray water and black water (from the toilet) by looking at the sensors on the main panel. Tap to wake up the screen and directly on the home screen you see the "Tanks":
- Blue is your fresh water tank
- Gray is your waste water tank
- Black is your toilet tank
The warning triangle symbol either indicates empty or full tanks. The sensors can be inaccurate at times. It might be a speck of dirt or drop of water on the sensor that is responsible for the wrong readings. So do not be alarmed, if the tank shows still full, right after you emptied the grey water.
Fresh water
The fresh water tank (122L) you fill up on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Use the WATER FILL stout. Take the fresh water hose from its compartment in the trunk (passenger side), screw it into the attachment by twisting the black ring anticlockwise and start filling. Switch your water pump in the back on, when filling up.
Important: Stay with the vehicle while filling and turn off the water right away, as soon as it starts overflowing at the bottom of the vehicle. Unscrew the hose, put it back into its compartment and you are good to go.
The CITY FILL valve on the side of the vehicle will NOT fill your water tank. It is only used on campgrounds as a constant water source and will need a pressure adjuster. So please don’t use the city fill as it can lead to issues.
Attention: the fresh water is not drinking water.
To empty=open the fresh water tank, you will find the valve behind the small wooden flap under the rear seat (passenger side next to the sliding door). Turn the valve to release the fresh water. In the picture below it is closed:
Gray water
All used water from the shower and sinks ends up in the gray water tank (48L). The tank is way smaller than the fresh water tank, as some water is used up and some goes to the black water tank when flushing.
You can empty out both gray and black water in one go:
- Remove the sewer hose from the sewer hose storage on the side of the vehicle (the door says SEWER HOSE on it). We recommend to wear gloves!
- The grey and black water release opening is on the driver’s side in the very back of the vehicle. Take off the cover and attach the hose by turning the ring clockwise until it is secure on the opening.
- Put the other end of the hose wherever you want the gray and black water to go.
- Now pull the levers in the back.
VERY IMPORTANT: always pull the BLACK lever first. That will release black water (everything from the toilet).
After that tank has drained, pull the GRAY lever next. That way the gray water will already help flush out the hose. - Next – and this step is optional – you can take the dump station hose (if they have one, DO NOT use the provided freshwater hose for this) and put it into the SAN-T Flush opening above the tanks to flush out any remainders left in the tank.
- Once you are done flushing you will want to close both the black and the gray lever again and then unscrew the hose and put it back into the compartment. Make sure you close the compartment (we’ve had multiple hoses lost on highways 😉).
Please make sure the grey and black water is emptied before returning the vehicle to the station.
